No Christmas 2020 Release For Ranveer Singh's '83'; THIS Film To Take Its Festive Slot?
Kabir Khan's sports drama '83' starring Ranveer Singh in lead role will release next year.
Ranveer Singh starrer '83' has been making waves ever since the project was announced. The sports drama, directed by Kabir Khan, was slated to hit the silver screens on April 10, 2020. However, the makers had to postpone the release date due to the COVID-19 crisis. It was rumoured that the much-awaited flick will release during Christmas 2020 after the re-opening of cinema halls in several states in the country. The Maharashtra government has given permission to the cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes, that are outside the containment zones, to operate with 50 percent occupancy.
When Will Ranveer Singh's '83 Release?
Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar, while talking to a leading daily, said that it won't be possible for the makers to release '83' on Christmas. He said that the team won't be able to set up a marketing campaign for the big banner film within a month. “Christmas is no longer a possibility as we won’t be able to set up a marketing campaign within a month. Also, the overseas markets are important for both films and some of them have shut again due to a second wave of Covid. We’re looking at the January and March windows for ’83 and Sooryavanshi,” Sarkar told Bangalore Mirror.'Bunty Aur Babli 2' To Take '83' Slot On Christmas 2020?
If a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, YRF is planning to release 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' during the festive season. YRF head honcho Aditya Chopra is working with Reliance Entertainment to plan his release calendar, the report said. “Bunty Aur Babli 2 is an out and out entertainer and would make for an ideal watch on festive season and YRF is strongly considering a December release for the film featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Aditya Chopra has been closely working in tandem with Reliance to chalk out his release calendar as he understands the efforts taken by Reliance to hold on to 2 big films – Sooryavanshi and 83 for a theatrical release. He is in no mood to clash in the midst of pandemic and has decided to bring a YRF film on Diwali only because 83, Sooryavanshi or any other film is not releasing,” a trade source told the portal. 'Bunty Aur Babli 2', which is the sequel to 'Bunty Aur Babli', stars Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh. The crime comedy drama was slated to release on June 26, 2020; however, it got delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Interestingly, the film will mark the reunion of Rani and Saif and the Bollywood debut of Sharvari. Stay tuned for more updates!
