Ranbir Kapoor Confirms Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana Part 1 Is Complete, Says 'I’m So Humbled' To Play Lord Ram

Ranbir Kapoor shared his excitement and gratitude for being a part of 'Ramayana', revealing details about his portrayal of Lord Ram in the upcoming epic.

New Delhi: In a recent update on the highly-anticipated ‘Ramayana’, Ranbir Kapoor revealed more facts about his character Lord Ram in the forthcoming epic drama. Speaking at Jeddah's Red Sea Film Festival, the actor conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and enthusiasm for being a part of this project.

Praising the film's producer and director, Ranbir Kapoor said, "I am currently working on Ramayana, which is the greatest story around. My childhood friend Namit Malhotra, somebody who is so passionately making this book, has got the best of all the artists, all the creative people, and the crew. It is directed by Nitesh Tiwari."

In addition, Ranbir Kapoor said that filming for the film's first half is already over and that production on the film's second half would shortly commence.  

According to him, ‘Ramayana’ delves into the essence of Indian culture by shedding light on the interactions inside families and between husbands and wives. He elaborated, “Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Ram’s role. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is about — family dynamics and husband-wife dynamics."

‘Ramayana’ Star-Studded Cast

Remarkably, the film has an ensemble cast. Joining Ranbir Kapoor in the cast is Sai Pallavi, who will play Sita, and Ravi Dubey, who will play Lakshman. Ravan will be played by the legendary Kannada actor Yash. Two parts of ‘Ramayana’ are scheduled for publication in the next years; the first in 2026 and the second in 2027.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is in the midst of filming not just ‘Ramayana’ but also ‘Love & War’, which is being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and features Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
