Mumbai: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has approached the Bombay High Court, seeking injunction against the ‘false and defamatory’ content that is being published on social media and websites in connection with the arrest of her husband Raj Kundra in the alleged adult films racket case.

According to a report in ANI, the ‘Dhadkan’ actress has filed a defamation suit against media personnel and media houses for ‘tarnishing her image’ in a pornography case for which Kundra has been book under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act.

Hearing in the case is scheduled to take place on Friday (July 30), the report in the news agency added.

The Mumbai Police arrested Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra for his alleged involvement in the production and circulation of pornographic content on July 19. A Magistrate Court declined to grant bail to the businessman and Ryan Thorpe in the case pertaining to making of adult films. The Bombay High Court will hear the proceedings of the public prosecutor in Raj Kundra's bail plea on Saturday (July 31).

Last week, a team of Crime Branch Cell recorded Shilpa's statement as part of their investigation in the case. The police officials questioned the actress for over six hours at her residence in Mumbai. Shetty reportedly broke down into tears several times during the interrogation in the case.

According to another report in IANS, Shilpa told the police officials that she was unaware about the exact content of HotShots. She also said that 'erotica is different from porn', for which Kundra was arrested by Mumbai Police.

Yesterday, the Securities and Exchange Board of India imposed a penalty of Rs 3 lakh Shilpa, Raj and Viaan Industries for violating the Insider Trading rules.

On the professional front, Shilpa made her comeback to films with 'Hungama 2' after 14 long years. The comedy drama, which also starred Paresh Rawal and Meezan Jaaferi, premiered directly on Disney+Hotstar on July 23, 2021. The actress had requested her fans to watch her new release and 'not let it suffer' because of her husband's arrest in the pornography case.
