Mumbai: Mumbai Sessions Court on Thursday (July 29) rejected the anticipatory bail application of Sherlyn Chopra in connection with the alleged pornography case involving Raj Kundra. Sherlyn had approached Mumbai Sessions Court, seeking an anticipatory bail as she feared that she will get arrested like Raj Kundra in the case.

According to a report in Bar and Bench, Sherlyn was apprehending an arrest, which was linked to the FIR registered in February 2021 under various sections of the IPC, IT Act and provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women Act.  Her lawyer stated that Sherlyn is ready to co-operate with the police officials in the case, however, she fears that she might get arrested as others in the case without service of notice.

The Crime Branch Cell of Mumbai Police had summoned Chopra for questioning as part of their investigation in the adult films racket case. She was asked to appear in front of the officials on July 27 to record her statement as a witness in the case.

Last week, the model-actress shared a video on social media in which she talked about her association with Raj Kundra's pornography case. She claimed to be the first person to give statement to Maharashtra Cyber Cell's investigating team in the case.

In her video, Chopra said that the journalists called and texted her to know her take on the case. She added that she gave her statement to the investigating team and was the first person to reveal information about Armsprime with the Cyber Cell.

The actress also informed that she went to Cyber Cell's office in March 2021 and gave a 'neutral statement' to the officials.

"For the past few days several journalists and mediapersons have been calling me, emailing me and texting me to learn what is my take on this topic. I would like to inform you all that I was the first person to give my statement to the investigating team of the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. I was also the first person to share information with them about Armsprime," Sherlyn was quoted as saying by IANS.

On a related note, the Bombay High Court will continue the proceedings of Raj Kundra's bail plea on Saturday (July 31). The businessman was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act by the Mumbai Police. A team of Crime Branch Cell also recorded his wife Shilpa Shetty's statement in the case.
