New Delhi: Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar passed away on October 29, 2021, after suffering a massive heart attack. The actor was rushed to the hospital after he complained of severe chest pain while working out. He died there without responding to the treatment.


Being a power star, Puneeth Rajkumar’s funeral was organised by the Karnataka government where fans gathered in large numbers to pay their last respect to ‘Appu’. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also bid a final tearful goodbye to the popular actor.


According to a report of ANI, the last rites of Puneeth Rajkumar were performed at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru today with state honours.



A report in ANI reads, “Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai pays last respects to  actor Puneeth Rajkumar at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru. Actor's last rites will be performed today at the same studio.”



Another report in ANI reads, “State honour being given to Kannada actor  Puneeth Rajkumar at Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru, in the presence of CM Basavaraj Bommai and others.”



Reportedly, fans gathered on the terraces of the buildings around Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru to have a last glimpse of ‘Appu’. According to a report in ANI, “People gather on terraces of the buildings around Sree Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru and climb trees around it to catch a glimpse of late Kannada actor #PuneethRajkumar. His last rites will be performed at the Studios today.”



Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai also told ANI, “It was a personal bonding with the entire family and more so with 'Appu'. I had seen him as a boy. We had relations since those days. Therefore I am giving him a final salute. Certainly, I was emotional.” He further added, “It's a personal loss to me. We have lost a very great talent”.



On the work front, Puneeth Rajkumar was last seen in 'Yuvarathnaa', which released in April 2021. He is survived by his wife and two children.
