New Delhi: It’s hard to believe that a talented artist like Puneeth Rajkumar is no more. The popular Kannada actor, who started his career as a child artist, passed away after suffering a heart attack on Friday (October 29). He left for his heavenly abode at the age of 46.
Fans Pay Tribute To Puneeth Rajkumar
Teary-eyed fans gathered at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium where Puneeth Rajkumar’s mortal remains have been kept for public viewing. Thousands of grieving fans paid their final tribute to the ‘Power star’ and offered condolences to Rajkumar’s family. People from all walks of life visited the stadium to catch the last glimpse of Puneeth, who was one of the highest-paid actors in Kannada cinema.
DCP Central Bengaluru, while talking to ANI, said that the officials have banned the sale of liquor in the city for two nights as a precautionary measure. Puneeth's untimely demise has left his family members, friends and fans in a state of shock. The police officers are taking all steps to ensure that no untoward incident takes place in the wake of his death.
Puneeth Rajkumar's Eyes To Be Donated
According to a report in Times Of India, Puneeth's eyes were donated to a donation centre, which was named after his late father Rajkumar. The 'Jackie' actor, who is the son of cinema legend Rajkumar, followed his father's footsteps and donated his eyes.
PM Modi Mourns Puneeth Rajkumar's Death
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences to the actor's family and said that the coming generations will remember him for his work and wonderful personality.
"A cruel twist of fate has snatched away from us a prolific and talented actor, Puneeth Rajkumar. This was no age to go. The coming generations will remember him fondly for his works and wonderful personality. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti," PM Modi tweeted.
Puneeth Rajkumar's Funeral
The last rites of the actor will be performed with full State honours at Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru, Manjunatha Prasad, Principal Secretary to Karnataka Chief Minister, said on Friday. The state CM Basavaraj Bommai and other political leaders also paid their last respect to Puneeth at the stadium.
Bommai had shared a tweet, expressing grief over Puneeth's demise. "Shocked and deeply saddened as Karnataka's most loved superstar Puneeth Rajkumar is no longer with us. A huge personal loss and one that's difficult to come to terms with. Praying almighty gives Rajkumar family & fans the strength to bear this loss," he wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
On the professional front, Puneeth Rajkumar was last seen in 'Yuvarathnaa', which released in April 2021. Puneeth, who featured in over 25 films, was also a TV presenter, singer and producer. He is survived by his wife and two children.
