IN PICS: ‘Pihu’, world’s first film starring only a child is the opening film at IFFI 2017!
The director who's first in the world to make a film starring only a toddler finally shared the teaser of his film which is cut for IFFI and it will give you goosebumps.
'Pihu' Official poster
The 1.02 mins long teaser opens with two little hands inside the vegetable tray of a fridge and this turns out to be Pihu aka Myra Vishwakarma who's trying to make space inside the fridge actually.
Seeing a little girl busy taking out things from the fridge that too in the absence of any adult starts to grip you in concern.
She takes out the vegetable tray and also throws out the last remaining pieces of vegetables and it looked like a kid indulging in some fun activity at first.
Soon after, your heart comes to your mouth the moment Pihu attempts to enter the fridge. This is actually what her innocent little heart desired.
No one to stop her, she tries once.. twice.. goes on and on to fit herself inside pulling the fridge door towards herself and the music playing in the background makes it only more intense and freaky.
Finally the door shuts and the sudden silence!
Within seconds in the long shot we see fridge starting to shake and the room fills with Pihu's shrieks which are hardly heard from inside.
Intrigued with the trailer, we instantly got in touch with the director to know more but before that you watch the teaser first.
Watch below:
Film's synopsis on IFFI's official site reads - A Two year old Pihu struggles to wake an unresponsive mother in an empty house that is scattered with the remains of last night’s birthday party. Distracted by the frequent calls made by her father in his attempt to reach his wife, the toddler continues with her misadventures. The film is an edge of the seat entertainer on how an empty house with everyday objects can be sinister for an unsupervised child.
We now know the premise of the film and we asked the critically acclaimed 'Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho' director if there are more such spine-chilling moments in the film?
Vinod: "This is only teaser. This is a very small moment from the film. I wanted to keep it very simple so we launched this(teaser only for IFFI 2017)."
He adds - "Film is disturbing. Yes. And very disturbing. Spine-chilling moments is a very small thing. With kid you can’t imagine things"
And we get the glimpse of it in the teaser itself. Vinod has also told in multiple interviews before what it took to shoot with a 2 yr old and how her parents stayed on the sets throughout.

'Pihu' aka Myra's father Rohit Vishwakarma and mother Prerna Sharma are also playing her onscreen parents in the film and they are the only other two characters in the film, inactive though.
The description of the Youtube 'Pihu' IFFI teaser states -
The two year old lead, with the reel and the real name as 'Pihu' is the only character in the film, of the type that is least attempted. Vinod Kapri who is well known for his attempt to showcase the social issues of the indian society is yet again targeting the unfortunate cause of accidents to the children which is a common household concern.
So when do we get to see the film in theatres?
While Myra's father Rohit told us "if everything goes well then possibly within 2-3 months", director Vinod assures, "First Quarter of 2018 for sure".
Vinod Kapri's debut film 'Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho', a social-political satire starring Late Om Puri, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra and Hrishita Bhatt was released in 2015 and he also won a National award in 2014 for his documentary film ‘Can't Take This Shit Anymore’.
Produced by Krishnam Mediatech Pvt Ltd & Bhagirathi Films Pvt Ltd Story, his next film 'Pihu' is arriving at Goa IFFI 2017 before it's release on the big screen.
The India Panorama segment was to first open with one of the two other films 'Nude' and 'S Durga' but these both were dropped by the information and broadcasting ministry.
Vinod told PTI - "I dont know what conspired between the jury and the I&B ministry. So I am not the right person to comment on it. But whatever is happening is unfortunate."
He added - "We have made Pihu with lot of hardships. It is a small-budget film. It was stuck for a year after our producer passed away. We have managed to complete the film and get another producer on board. We are focusing on the film, we are honoured."
Kapri said he was unaware that "Nude", which was one of the films that were dropped from the list, was recommended as the opening film of the segment.
