New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Pathaan' has been courting controversy ever since the film's song 'Besharam Rang' released. While earlier, a section of people demanded cuts in the song, now the film like big banners from last year like 'Laal Singh Chadha' and 'Brahmastra' has become a part of the #BoycottBollywood trend.

Videos from various parts of the country like Ahemdabad are circulating on social media where we see some people tear posters, bring down billboards of Pathaan while many are seen burning posters of SRK. This comes only a day after actor Suniel Shetty met with Yogi Adityanath in Mumbai where the prospect and possibilities of a film city in UP were being discussed among eminent film personalities. During the conversation, Suneil Shetty brought up the #BoycottBollywood trend into discussion. As per ANI, Suneil Shetty assured the CM that people in the industry don't do 'wrong work' or 'drugs' and thus sought his help to change the perception.

The Indian Express had quoted Suniel Shetty as saying, "Boycott Bollywood, “The hashtag that’s going on, Boycott Bollywood, yeh ruk bhi sakta hai aapke kehne se (it can stop if you say). It is important to spread the word that we are doing good work. One rotten apple is everywhere, but just because of that you can’t call the whole industry rotten. Today people think that Bollywood is not a good place, but we have made such good films here. I was a part of one such film too, when I did Border. I have been a part of many good films. We have to come together and work towards how we can get rid of the Boycott Bollywood hashtag. We have to figure how we can stop this trend.”

Meanwhile, 'Pathaan' also stars John Abraham. Directed by Sidharth Anand, 'Pathaan' is slated to be released on January 25, 2022.
