New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan', even after being dogged by controversy, has experienced a record-breaking start. With two more days of advance ticket sales left, the action-thriller appears to be sweeping theatres. The movie has already surpassed the milestones set by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's 'Brahmastra' from a year ago.
The advance booking numbers for 'Pathaan' point to the movie making massive revenue at the box office. Within just two days of its advance booking, the Shah Rukh Khan-starring movie reportedly shattered Brahmastra's previous record for the most advance tickets sold.
The fantasy movie starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, which was released on September 9, 2022, was a commercial success. The Ayan Mukherji-directed film brought Bollywood out of its slump by earning Rs 19.66 crore in advance bookings.
Producer and industry expert Girish Johar stated in an interview with ETimes,"Pathaan has generated a lot of curiosity not only amongst the fans in India but worldwide. It's going to take a fantastic start on Wednesday, January 25, which is a non-holiday. I peg a start ranging between 35 and 37 crores. If the start is in this range it will be a fantastic one."
According to reports, considering the incredible excitement and hype that the film is receiving, numerous theatres that were closed due to COVID-19 will reopen for YRF's heart-pounding drama 'Pathaan'. This movie could mark the beginning of a new era for the theatre business, which suffered during the pandemic.
In Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, these 25 single-screen theatres are predominantly located. The Pathaan movie will also be shown at the Mulund Carnival R Mall in Mumbai. Jyoti Cinema in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Cinekamla Ponda in Goa are two other theatres undergoing restoration.
Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the spy action film set to release on Janury 25 also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
