'Raees', a 2017 movie with Shah Rukh Khan as the lead, marked Mahira Khan's debut in Bollywood. Political tensions between India and Pakistan following the 2016 Uri attack made it difficult for her to continue working in India and ultimately resulted in the banning of Pakistani actors and singers from the country.
