OUCH: This tweet was enough to point out major flaws in Akshay Kumar's navy uniform in 'Rustom'
New Delhi: With the latest releases Mohenjo Daro and Rustom that are not doing as expected at the box office, we have found out many critics who are talking about these movies and pointing out what’s wrong in them! While many say that the Mohenjo Daro did not depict the bygone era of Indus Valley Civilisation properly and there is much violence shown in the movie and on the other hand, here’s someone who actually made a valid point of the Akshay Kumar’s uniform in ‘Rustom’.
Well, with just one tweet, he pointed out what all is wrong with the uniform. Well, in the movie, Akshay plays the role of a naval officer being tried for the murder of his wife’s lover. Akshay is seen donning a white uniform embellished with medals but as pointed out in a tweet, the medals were apparently not present at the time the movie was set i.e. 1959. Check this out:
On this issue, the costume designer of the film Ameira Punvani defended her work saying that generally one takes liberty when making a movie. In an interview to BollywoodLife, Ameira said, “Films are always larger than life, if you are showing somebody’s story and you don’t dramatize it a little bit and glorify it a little bit, what’s the fun in watching it. In real life no normal person can beat up 20 people in one go. The whole fun of watching a film is the larger than life and the fact that you can dramatize something and have a lot of visual appeal.” Adding, she said, “So we wanted to show is that Rustom is a very well decorated officer. You know the images showing the medals from 1971 and something, but it doesn’t take away from the character, you don’t think ki yeh 1971 mein toh tha nahin. The masses who are watching it or the classes who are watching it, it’s not taking away from the character, it’s juts showing he is a very well decorated officer, if he had only one or two medals, everyone’ll be like ‘hey man chota mota officer hoga!’ We are not giving a disclaimer that Rustom did this, Rustom did that, it’s their for the people to understand, that’s why we’ve done what we’ve done.” She added, "People can point out stuff and say this is inappropriate and that is inappropriate but at the end the film has entertained people and that’s what matters. It’s just a cinematic liberty and that’s about it."Bollywood can never get the uniform right. The horrid #Rustom (set in '59) is no exception. pic.twitter.com/t7NyaJaGdM
