Netizens Think Kiran Rao Took A Dig At Sandeep Reddy Vanga In THIS Scene Of 'Laapataa Ladies'

On social media, people are talking about how Kiran Rao's new film 'Laapataa Ladies' took a jibe at Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

New Delhi: Social media has become the battleground for contrasting cinematic ideologies of acclaimed filmmakers Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The clash between the creator of ‘Lapataa Ladies’ and the director of ‘Animal’ escalated recently as one of the scenes of ‘Lapataa Ladies’ went viral.

‘Lapataa Ladies’ made its debut on Netflix, sparking a lot of applause. Among the scenes that stirred heated discussions was an exchange between characters at a railway station, wherein Phool Kumari finds herself abandoned by her newly-wedded husband, only to seek guidance from Manju Maai, a local tea seller.

Their conversation delves into the complexities of relationships, with Manju Maai making a striking statement about the rights of husbands to exercise violence against their wives. This scene reignited debates reminiscent of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Animal’, films that faced criticism for their portrayal of toxic masculinity and justifications for abusive behaviour.

Social media users wasted no time drawing parallels between the two films, with some hailing Kiran Rao's narrative as a counter to Vanga's controversial stance.

A Reddit user shared the scene from ‘Lapataa Ladies’ and questioned whether Kiran Rao took an indirect jibe at Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The user wrote, "A direct slap on Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s face?"
