Ayushmann Khurrana, who made his big screen debut with ‘Vicky Donor’, has emerged as one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood. The 36-year-old actor has managed to win the hearts of the audience with his performance in films like ‘Badhaai Ho’, ‘Andhadhun’ and ‘Dream Girl’.

The ‘Bala’ actor, known for his acting prowess, will play the role of a doctor in the upcoming film ‘Doctor G’. Last month, he shared a post on social media to inform his fans that he would don the doctor’s coa for the first time in his career. Khurrana also promised to deliver a message that would strike a chord with the audience.

Mrunal Thakur was supposed to play the lead role opposite Ayushmann in ‘Doctor G’. However, the ‘Super 30’ actress has walked out of the project because of other professional commitments. While the makers wanted a fresh pairing, Mrunal had to opt out as her dates were clashing, a report in an entertainment portal said.

The ‘Batla House’ actress had committed her dates to movies like ‘Pippa’ and hence, she decided to leave ‘Doctor G’.

"Mrunal had given her dates last year for this film, before the lockdown happened. Her role is a very strong one and the makers wanted this fresh pairing to add more value to the project. But now, when the crew decided on the dates, owing to Ayushmann's schedule, Mrunal had to opt out since she has already committed the same dates to her other films like Pippa. She conveyed the message to the makers and they mutually agreed on parting ways," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

‘Doctor G’, which is being directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, will reportedly focus on menstruation and sanitation. The makers are now looking for another actress to feature in the film.

On the professional front, Ayushmann Khurrana will be next seen in ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ opposite Vaani Kapoor. The cast and crew have wrapped up the shoot in December 2020. His release ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video on June 12, 2020. The comedy drama also starred Amitabh Bachchan.

Talking about Mrunal, the ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ actress will share screen-space with Shahid Kapoor in ‘Jersey’.
