New Delhi: The teaser of Sanya Malhotra-starrer 'Mrs' has been dropped. The film is the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam film 'The Great Indian Kitchen'. The movie's teaser was unveiled by the filmmakers on Wednesday.
Sanya, who plays Richa in the teaser, moves into a new house after getting married. The first few days with the new family seem all well. Though she tries, she can't quite live up to her in-laws' expectations. Sanya puts forth a lot of effort into cooking for her family, but she gets told that she needs to abide by family rules.
Sharing the teaser, Sanya Malhotra wrote in the caption, “All set to inspire, move and spark conversations about the challenges & triumphs faced by women globally at the world stage! We are happy to announce our film #Mrs, a captivating story of strength & resilience, will have its World Premiere at #TalinnBlackNightsFilmFestival on 17th November. The powerful narrative has also been selected under the Critics’ Pick Competition category at the film festival.”
Sharing her excitement, Sanya said, "As an actor, I could not have asked for a better character than I would essay in 'The Great Indian Kitchen'. I am more than excited to start working on my role because there are so many layers and nuances to it."

Jeo Baby's highly regarded film 'The Great Indian Kitchen' has been remade in Hindi as 'Mrs'. The film, which premiered in January 2021, explores the damaging ways in which patriarchy locks up women to the thankless routine of chores at home. The film tells the story of a newly wed woman, who struggles to be the submissive wife that her husband and his family expect her to be.
