#MeToo: After Vinta Nanda & Sandhya Mridul, actress Deepika Amin accuses Alok Nath of harassment

After writer-producer Vinta Nanda, Sandhya Mridul and a crew member of ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’, Bollywood and TV actress Deepika Amin has accused Alok Nath of sexual harassment. The ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ actress took to Twitter to share her ordeal and said that everybody in the industry knows that the veteran actor harasses women. Deepika, who recently worked with Alok Nath in Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, said that the actor tried to barge into her room during the shoot of a telefilm. “Everyone in the industry knows that #AlokNath is an obnoxious drunkard who harasses women. Years ago on a telefilm outdoor shoot he tried to barge into my room. He slobbered over women, drunk and created a scene. The unit rallied around me and made sure I was safe. #metoo,” Deepika wrote on the micro-blogging site. Here’s her tweet.

Deepika, while talking to web portal, shared her tale of harassment at the hands of the ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’ actor. The actress, who has been part of films like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ and ‘Ranjhaana’, said that Alok Nath was playing her father in the telefilm. “I was young then. It was an off day (on set) and everyone was in the hotel. It was morning around 10AM or so and Alok Nath knocked on my door. I opened my door and there he was standing, leaning against the door,” Deepika told Firstpost. “ He came in and sat down on the bed. I stood at the door, as I didn’t know what to do. I purposefully kept the door open as members of the unit were milling about. Then I saw an AD (assistant director), waved brightly at him, said 'Hi' and called him in. When he came in (to my room), he saw this person sitting on the bed, and he realised [what was going on]. He tried to help me. Alok Nath kept mumbling something (in a drunken state). And then he decided to go. While stepping out, he fell flat on his face, hit his head on the floor. He got up, lurched out and then walked away,” the actress further told the portal. Deepika said that Alok was well-behaved during the shoot of ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety’. “This time, when we shoot Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety, nothing of this kind happened. I have met him twenty years later for this film. I was very wary of him, but this time I never saw him misbehave,” the ‘Tashan-E-Ishq’ actress added. Watch this space for more updates!
