Manikarnika Box Office Day 2: Kangana Ranaut’s film witnesses MASSIVE rise, sets cash registers jingling

New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ is roaring at the box office. The period drama, which hit the silver screens on January 25, has witnessed a remarkable growth on its second day. After starting on a positive note, the film has done exceptionally well on day two. The much-awaited film minted Rs 8.75 crore on the first day and the movie continued the momentum on Saturday. Manikarnika’s day two box office collection stood at Rs 18.10 crore. Trade pundits were expecting Manikarnika to do quite well and the film exceeded their expectations. The film has picked up pace at the box office and is expected to continue the momentum. Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared Manikarnika’s box office collection on Twitter. He said that the strong word of mouth and the Republic Day holiday has boosted the film on Saturday. ‘’#Manikarnika sees remarkable growth on Day 2... India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu,’’ Adarsh wrote on the micro-blogging site. ‘Manikarnika’, which saw Kangana in the titular role of Rani Laxmi Bai, was released across 3000 screens in India. The film is based on the life of queen of Jhansi who defied the British East India Company rule during the rebellion of 1857. The film has added a new record to its name as 'Manikarnika' has registered the highest ever single day for a female-led film in Bollywood. The film, which has been co-directed by Kangana and Krish, also stars Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Jisshu Sengupta and Danny Denzongappa in key roles.
