'Manikarnika' quick movie review: Kangana Ranaut's brilliant performance saves the period drama from being a disaster!

One of the most controversial movies of recent times, Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika has been grabbing headlines for almost a year now mostly for the wrong reasons! Initially the director of the film, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish)left the project mid-way followed by actor Sonu Sood and in the recent times Karni Sena threatened the makers to get ready for the consequences post release. Manikarnika' quick movie review: Kangana Ranaut's brilliant performance saves the period drama from being a disaster! A still from the movie The film is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow(January 25, 2018) and we got a chance to watch the press show of the film ahead of its release and bring to you the first quick review of the film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Star Cast: Kangana Ranaut, Ankita Lokhande, Ishu Sengupta, Danny Dengongzpa, Suresh Oberoi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Atul Kulkarni Directors: Kangana Ranaut, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi Ratings: 3 /5 stars To begin with the movie is all about the leading lady Kangana Ranaut. The first half introduces us to her titular character Manikarnika but has been narrated in a poor manner. The film looks melodramatic than a period drama in many scenes and that's a huge let down on makers part. However Kangana does justice to the role by bringing to life the legendary war hero with her grit and fierce act. The actress looks convincing in the film as her character progresses from being a young warrior to a King's wife, a mother and a people's queen to finally a martyr. Other actors in the film looks boring and dull and you will barely remember anyone after coming out from the theatre. Kangana also makes her debut as a co-director in this film, but unfortunately she fails in that part as the film struggles with poor screenplay and bad narration with melodramatic dialogues. War scenes in the movie too are poorly depicted but then its again Kangana who lifts the movie with her poise as a fierce queen and makes it worth a watch. Watch or Not? Well, you can watch the movie only if you are a die-hard Kangana fan otherwise you can chose to skip it! Stay Tuned for detailed review
