New Delhi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer 'Shaakuntalam' is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. Recently, the makers shared the music video of the first song from the film titled 'Mallika Mallika'. Sung by Ramya Behara and composed by Mani Sharma, the song features Samantha as Shakuntala/ In the music video, we see Shakuntala waiting for her beloved king Dushyant as she urges the nature to help reunite the lovers.


The video of 'Mallika Mallika' was shared by Samantha Ruth Prabhu on her official social media handle. Samantha wrote, "A delightful visual of the much loved #Mallika/#Malligaa/#Mallike Video Song from #Shaakuntalam out now🤍🦢."


Soon after the video was released on YouTube, fans and netizens shared their happiness in seeing Samantha in this period-film. A user wrote on the YouTube video, "Samantha is magic '', while another wrote, "Samantha is not just a name, it’s an emotion for millions of people across the world”. Another fan wrote, “Samantha is one of the best actresses of Indian cinema."


 




Shakuntala is seen dressed in an all white outfit. The song is staged and choreographed in the manner old classic love songs were shot. 'Mallika Mallika' will surely remind audiences of that.


'Shaakuntalam' is based on the famous Sanskrit play 'Abhijnana Shakuntalam' by Kalidasa. The film stars Dev Mohan as king Dushyant while Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha will portray the role of Prince Bharat in the film. Allu Arha is making her debut as a child artist in 'Shaakuntalam'. 


Samantha, recently, in an interview with Pinkvilla praised Arha and said, "She (Arha) is so adorable. She blew everyone’s mind on set. Firstly, she does not speak a word of English, she only speaks Telugu. She speaks Telugu better than most adults, so pure. She was absolutely brilliant. I remember the first day after which I tweeted that this is a superstar right here and she doesn’t even need her father. She is going to make it anyway because she is born to be a superstar.”


Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla will also be seen in supporting roles in the film.


The film has been helmed by Gunasekhar. 'Shaakuntalam' is a grand historic-period film. It is produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations. Bankrolled on a budget of Rs. 80 crores, 'Shaakuntalam' will be released in theatres on April 14, 2023.
