New Delhi: Popular comedian Mallika Dua took to social media to inform her followers about the demise of her first cousin on Tuesday (May 18). The social media influencer, who has also worked in few films, penned an emotional post on her Instagram story and said that she doesn’t have the ‘strength to grieve’. She mourned her cousin’s death and said that she won't be able to accept the things happening around her.

"I lost my first cousin last night. She was nothing but full of love at every moment of her life. I will never ever believe it. I don't have the strength to grieve. She is with her mother and grandparents, people she loved the most. I will never be able to accept this or whatever is happening around me,” Dua wrote.

Mallika, who is the daughter of veteran journalist Vinod Dua, provided an update about her parents’ health. Last week, her father Vinod and mother Chinna Dua were admitted to a hospital after they tested positive for COVID-19.

Dua revealed that her mother’s condition has improved but she is still in the ICU.  “Mama is still in the ICU. Slightly better. Papa is slightly better too but very weak. Please Pray,” the ‘Zero’ actress said.

Earlier this week, Mallika sought help from Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda in arranging Tocilizumab medicine for her mother. The ‘Namaste England’ actress sent an SOS on Twitter for the COVID-19 vaccine, requesting the former Lok Sabha member to help her.

Hooda responded to Mallika’s tweet and asked her to send the details with his team member. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also reacted to her post and said that he has arranged the medicine. He shared a phone number with Dua on the micro-blogging site.

The comedian thanked the BJP leader for the prompt action and said that the medicine has been delivered to the hospital.

Netizens didn’t take kindly to Mallika and Hardeep’s Twitter interaction and slammed the latter for noticing her tweet but not helping others, who are struggling to procure the required medicines amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The users also trolled Mallika after her Twitter exchange with the minister went viral. They called out the ‘VIP Culture’ after she was able to arrange medicines for her mother. She has deleted her official Twitter account following the outrage.

On the professional front, Mallika was recently seen in LOL Hasse Toh Phasse Review, which beamed on Amazon Prime Video.
