Mumbai: An FIR has been filed against a Facebook user for allegedly downloading Salman Khan’s Eid 2021 release ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ using illegal methods from ZEE5 app and selling the pirated print of the movie on WhatsApp for Rs 50. The accused was offering to sell ‘Radhe’ (by download) for a payment of Rs 50.

The FIR was registered after pirated versions of the newly released film were leaked online on WhatsApp and Telegram. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd filed the complaint at Mumbai’s central cyber police station after they came to know about the film being illegally released on different platforms.

Aparna Desai, who is the marketing head of Salman Khan Films, informed ZEE upon learning about Radhe’s pirated versions doing the rounds on WhatsApp. The company contacted an anti-piracy agency, which sent a notice to the popular messenger app to remove the pirated videos from its platform, a report in Hindustan Times.

The anti-piracy agency informed the makers of ‘Radhe’ that two phone numbers are being used to share the pirated video of the film.

The report further said that the producers contacted the Facebook user, Ashwani Raghav, who claimed to offer ‘Radhe’ for a payment of Rs 50 on WhatsApp. In his post, he said that people can take the movie from him via WhatsApp.

One of the executives from Zee’s distribution team decided to contact Raghav to verify the claim. The FB user asked him to transfer Rs 50 in order to watch the film. When the executive transferred the money, he received the pirated video of ‘Radhe’ through his WhatsApp number, the report in the daily added.

Raghav and two others have been booked under the Information Technology Act and Copyright Act.
