Malayalam Film '2018- Everyone Is A Hero' Is India's Official Entry For Oscars 2024
Tovino Thomas starrer Malayalam film '2018-Everyone is a Hero' has made it to Oscars 2024 as India's official entry.
New Delhi: Tovino Thomas starrer Malayalam film '2018-Everyone is a Hero' has been nominated as India's official entry for Oscars 2024. The 2018 floods that ravaged areas of Kerala are the backdrop for the movie, which is focused on tales of humanity overcoming hardship. After the 2021 superhero film "Minnal Murali," this is the second Tovino effort to garner widespread notice and acclaim from the public. The 2019 movie "Virus," which is about the Nipah outbreak in Kerala, also comes to mind as he gives a memorable performance.
He portrays a young man in the movie who joins the Indian Army with a fake medical certificate before saving lives during the floods.

The Malayalam film industry, which has been facing a tough time in terms of box office success, heaved a sigh of relief with the survivor thriller '2018 -Everyone Is A Hero' starring Tovino Thomas. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the film had a dream run at the box office and minted Rs 100 crore club globally. With this, the film became the fastest Malayalam film to enter Rs 100 crore club.
Talking about the OTT release of 2018, film's director Joseph said, "2018: Everyone is a Hero is a homage to the collective experience of the people of Kerala during the 2018 floods and to be able to bring it to the screen and see the kind of love it has been receiving has been a truly fulfilling experience. Through this film, we aimed to commemorate the heroism and courage shown by every individual during the catastrophe. With the film now set to stream on SonyLIV, more and more people get to witness our story and the extraordinary spirit of humanity that helped the state triumph.”
