New Delhi: Ajay Devgn starrer sports biopic ‘Maidaan’ received good reviews from the critics and the film is praised by the audiences who have watched the film. However, word of mouth and good reviews have not culminated in footfall at the theatres. The film has collected Rs 7.25 Crore including Wednesday’s preview and Thursday.

Maidaan gets a dismal start
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X to share the box office collection of the film. He wrote, “Inspite of the big holiday [#Eid], #Maidaan opens to shockingly low numbers… Biz at urban centres in particular should’ve multiplied post-noon onwards, but, despite merits and appreciation, the Day 1 biz is dismal, way below the mark… Wed previews + Thu ₹ 7.25 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice #Maidaan enjoys glorious word of mouth, but that needs to convert into footfalls, especially over the weekend… In fact, a miraculous turnaround on Sat - Sun is a must... Let’s see how its biz pans out in the next couple of days.”

About Maidaan and its review
‘Maidaan’ is a biographical drama based on the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and India's victory at the 1962 Asia Games.  The film directed by Amit Sharma, also stars Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and others.

The film review on ABP Live reads: “Despite its lengthy runtime of 3 hours, the film tries to justify its duration by diving into the events preceding India's victory at the 1962 Asian Games. However, some scenes feel unnecessarily dragged, and trimming them a bit could have boosted the film's pace and cut moments where the audience might feel the urge to yawn or glance at their watches. Even so, much like the Indian team, the movie transcends its flaws to touch your heart, an accomplishment it achieves with aplomb.” (Read full review here.)
