India, the land of diverse cultures where love and lust are a taboo, also houses some people who dare to talk about it in the manner they know best and filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Bannerjee have just attempted that.

The four of them bring a sequel to their 2013 film 'Bombay Talkies' in the form of four short stories titled 'Lust Stories' which will be streamed on Netflix on June 15th.

The trailer of Lust Stories was released on May 18th by Netflix and it stars Radhika Apte, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani and Manisha Koirala in lead roles.

The film revolves around the theme of modern relationships and redefining the idea of love and lust by the modern urban women.

In Anurag Kashyap’s film, the talented Radhika Apte opens the scene with her reflection on love and hurt- “You can’t hurt someone you love, intentionally you don’t. But you only hurt those you love!” Radhika is shown as a professor who isn’t happy in her marriage with a man who wants their relationship to be like penguins! So she secretly indulges in a sexual relationship with one of her students, played by Akash Thosar and the carefree badassery portrayed by Radhika is just amazing!

The Zoya Akhtar’s film stars Bhumi Pednekar and Neil Bhoopalam in a story of unrequited love of a house-help (Bhumi) and her love interest (Neil) who’s the house owner’s son.

Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani arrive as a newly-married couple in Karan Johar’s film who have sexual compatibility issues. In one hilarious scene, Kiara is seen enjoying an orgasm while her husband (Vicky, who’s not responsible for the orgasm) and other family members stand in front of her with eyes gaped wide with shock!

Manisha Koirala, who’ll be seen on-screen after a long time, plays a married woman in Dibakar Bannerjee’s film, and who indulges in an extra-marital affair with her husband’s best friend. Sanjay Kapoor plays a concerned husband while Jaideep Ahlawat goes all lofty as the best friend.

'Lust Stories'

Even MTV Roadies’ Gang Leader, Neha Dhupia who just got married to Angad Bedi[Troll asks Neha Dhupia to tie rakhi to husband Angad Bedi over their age gap, She hits back with a ‘punch’!], is seen in a small glimpse in the trailer. While her role is still a mystery, we can only assume it’s pivotal in the film.

'Lust Stories’ looks promising as it’s the third original Indian film to have gone up on the Netfilx platform after ‘Brahman Naman’ and ‘Love Per Square Foot’. It’s also the second women-centric film ever made that captures the salacious desires of the contemporary women after the controversial ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ garnered huge negative comments and a ban by CBFC for showing women in such erotic light.

Hopefully, that won’t happen with the Lust Stories as it’s going to arrive on June 15th on a censorship-free 'red carpet' of Netflix.
