The audience did not respond favourably to Kartik Aaryan's most recent movie, 'Shehzada'. The Telugu movie Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, which was officially remade in Hindi, received negative reviews and underwhelmed audiences.
The review of 'Shehzada' on ABP Live reads: "The movie, which is billed as a family entertainer and brings back the spirit of early '90s movies, will take you back to a time when such plot points appeared in every other movie. Almost all of the film's key scenes have been faithfully replicated in ‘Shehzada’, which is a true remake of the Telugu original. From the introductory scene of the protagonist to the conflicts between Bantu (Kartik Aaryan) and his father Paresh Rawal (Valmiki) are identical."
In comparison to his prior movie, 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', Kartik Aaryan's most recent movie performed poorly at the box office. The movie's opening weekend box office performance was below average. 'Shehzada' made Rs 19.90 crores during its opening weekend at theatres, according to Box Office Worldwide.
Meanwhile, 'Shehzada's OTT rights were reportedly purchased by Netflix for a hefty Rs 40 crore. The film's international distribution rights have also been sold for Rs 5 crore.
