New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev underwent angioplasty surgery at a Delhi hospital on Friday (October 23). The star all-rounder was hospitalized after he complained of chest pain, a statement issued by Fortis-Escorts Hospital said. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan took to social media to wish a speedy recovery to India's 1983 Cricket World Cup-winning captain.

Shah Rukh Khan's Tweet For Kapil Dev


SRK posted a heartfelt tweet for the former cricketer and prayed for his speedy recovery. He extended his get well soon wishes to Kapil Dev and hoped he recovers as 'fast and his bowling and batting'. The 'Zero' actor tweeted, "Get well sooner than soon Paaji! @therealkapildev wishing you a speedy recovery as fast as your bowling & batting. Love to you sir."

Bollywood Celebs Pray For Kapil Dev's Recovery 


Several tinsel town celebs including Riteish Deshmukh, Richa Chadha prayed for Dev's good health on social media. Deshmukh, last seen in 'Baaghi 3', shared photos of the legendary cricketer and tweeted, "Wishing @therealkapildev
ji a speedy recovery. Get well Soon Sir."

Hospital Issues Statement About Kapil Dev's Health Update


According to the statement issued by the hospital, Kapil Dev is stable now and expected to get discharged in couple of days.

"Former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of night," the statement read.

Ranveer Singh To Play Kapil Dev's Role In '83'

Kabir Khan's '83' is based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup Victory at Lords. Ranveer Singh will be seen essaying the role of Kapil Dev in the much-awaited flick. The sports drama was slated to hit the silver screens on April 10, 2020; however, the makers decided to postpone the release date due to the COVID-19 crisis. If a recent grapevine is to be believed, '83' will release during Christmas 2020.

Talking about Kapil Dev, the 61-year-old is currently seen as a guest analyst on ABP News' show 'Wah Cricket' for the ongoing IPL 2020.
