New Delhi: Mammootty celebrated his 72nd birthday today. The makers of his next suspense thriller, 'Kannur Squad', released the first trailer to mark the occasion. Mammootty portrays an ASI in the captivating thriller that the trailer reveals. The superstar himself is the producer of the Roby Varghese Raj-directed movie. It is written by Rony David Raj and Muhammad Shafi.
Mammootty leads his squad in cracking the case by tricking the crooks, going undercover to capture them, and putting up a strong fight.

The official synopsis of the film reads: “The gripping saga of a police officer and his team, their challenging journey to nab a criminal gang across the country. Further, it shows how he leads his team towards triumph, amidst professional uncertainities in this gripping drama.”
Kishore, Vijayaraghavan, Rony David Raj, Azeez Nedumangad, Shabareesh Varma, Sarath Sabha, and Sunny Wayne also appear in the movie in addition to Mammootty. The film's staff also includes the editor Praveen Prabhakar, the makeup artist Ronex Xavier, the costume designers Arun Manohar and Abhijith, the cinematographer Muhammed Rahil, the music director Sushin Shyam, the production designer Shaji Naduvil, and the sound designer Tony Babu.
The film will be distributed in Kerala by Dulquer Salmaan's production company, Wayfarer Films.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan, an actor and Mammootty's son, posted a pair of pictures on social media along with a heartfelt message.
“When I was a boy you were the man I wanted to become. When I first stood in front of the camera you were the actor I wanted to become. When I became a father you were everything I wanted to be,” he wrote.
The first-look posters for Mammootty's upcoming movie, 'Bramayugam', were also revealed on his birthday in addition to the 'Kannur Squad' trailer. Rahul Sadasivan, known for his work on the film 'Bhoothakaalam', is the director, and Nigh Shift Studios and YNot Studios are the producers.
