New Delhi: Malayalam movie ‘Jallikattu’ has recently bagged the nominations for the 93rd Oscars Awards. A total of 27 films from India were in the race for nominations for the ‘93rd Academy Awards’ including ‘Shakuntala Devi’, ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, ‘Shikara’, ‘Chhappak’, ‘Bhonsle’, ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, ‘Serious Men’, ‘Bulbul’, ‘The Pink Is Sky’ and others. Two Marathi films were also in contention: ‘Bittersweet’ and ‘Disciple’.
Malayalam Film ‘Jallikattu’ Bags Nomination For The 93rd Oscars Awards In A Race Of 27 Indian Films
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who has been making the headlines for her controversial and fearless statements congratulated the team of ‘Jallikattu’ for the nomination. The ‘Panga’, however, took at dig at the ‘movie mafia’ gang in her congratulatory tweet.
Kangana tweeted, “All the scrutiny/ bashing Bullydawood gang got is finally yielding some results, Indian films aren’t just about 4 film families, movie mafia gang is hiding in their houses and letting juries do their job and congratulations team #Jallikattu”

The ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ actress was recently accused along with her sister Rangoli Chandel of disrupting communal harmony and creating hatred through their tweets. The Bandra Magistrate court had then directed the Bandra Police to investigate the complaint filed by the casting director and fitness trainer Munnawar Ali Sayyed. An FIR was registered against Kangana and Rangoli under various sections of the IPC including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion) and 124A (sedition), according to a report in PTI.
The Bombay High Court on Tuesday (November 24) granted interim protection from arrest Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel. The court directed the sisters to appear before the Mumbai Police on January 8.
Kangana took to her Twitter to express her gratitude after the Bombay HC granted her interim protection from arrest in the sedition case.
On the professional front, Ranaut will be seen playing the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in 'Thalaivi'. Ranaut also has 'Tejas' and 'Dhaakad' in the pipeline.
