Eros Now found itself in the middle of a controversy after netizens slammed the company for sharing 'vulgar' and 'cheap' tweets on Navratri on its official Twitter handle. Several users expressed their displeasure over the content and trended the hashtag #BoycottErosNow on social media. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut also lashed out at Eros Now for sharing sensational Navratri posts featuring Ranveer Singh, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and other actors.

Kangana Ranaut REACTS To Eros Now's Tweets & Memes


The 'Panga' actress, who is quite vocal on social media about different topics, said that people should 'preserve cinema as a community viewing theatre experience'. She posted a series of a tweets and emphasized on the importance of promoting family-friendly content.

"We must preserve cinema as a community viewing theatre experience, its more difficult to enthrall large section of audience than sexualise content for personal viewing, digitisation of art faces this major crisis, all streaming platforms are nothing but a porn hub. SHAME," Kangana tweeted.



The 'Manikarnika' actress said that even international streaming giants have sensational and sexual content and it is difficult to get 'any other' content cleared by their teams.

"Even on international streaming platforms the nature of the content is sensational we need to manufacture overtly sexual, deeply gruesome brutal, violent content, essentially to arouse the viewer’s sexual appetite, very difficult to get any other content cleared by their teams," she further wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Kangana also stressed on the need of Community viewing and said that it enhances awareness among the people. She tweeted, "Community viewing enhances our awareness when we know someone is watching what we watching we want to be who we want them to think we are, we make conscious choices, censorship of what we feed our brains n emotions is very important and censor can be our own conscience as well."

Why #BoycottErosNow Trended On Twitter?


The slogans on the posts like ‘let’s have some majama in my pyjama’ and 'you need dandi to play dandiya. I have one,' offended several fans. They trended the hashtag #BoycottErosNow on Twitter and called out the company for allegedly insulting the festival of Navratri.

Eros Now Issues Statement


The film production company issued a statement after receiving flak on social media. It deleted the controversial tweets from social media and said that the company never intended to hurt emotions of the people.

"We at Eros love and respect our cultures equally. It is not, and it has never been our intention to hurt anyone’s emotions. We have deleted the concerned posts and apologise for having offended anybody’s sentiments," the statement said.



The Mumbai Police officials have summoned Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel in a sedition case. On the orders of a local court, the Bandra Police had registered an FIR against them under various sections of the IPC. While Kangana has been asked to appear before the investigating officer on October 26, Rangoli has been called for interrogation on October 27.

The sisters duo is currently busy enjoying the wedding festivities of their cousin Karan Ranaut in Himachal Pradesh.
