Mumbai: Bollywood celebs including John Abraham and Pooja Bhatt appreciated Delhi Police officials for arresting two people for assaulting and killing a stray dog in the city. John shared an appreciation for post for Delhi Police for taking quick action against the accused. The ‘Dostana’ actor also requested the Prime Minister's Office to work with other organizations to stop cruelty against animals.

Abraham expressed his displeasure over the gruesome act and said that people should raise their voices against animal cruelty.  


“Thank You DCP South East Delhi and your team for your swift action against this gruesome act. We need more officers like you to come together and implement stricter laws against animal cruelty. I urge Blue Cross of India and PMO India and others to rally together against violence of such kind,” he tweeted. 



“Brutality in any form should not be tolerated. Raise your voices against animal cruelty," the ‘Batla House’ star wrote on the micro-blogging site. 



Actress-director Pooja Bhatt also lauded the Delhi Police for arresting the accused. She tweeted, “This will go a long way to ensure safety and compassion towards animals.” 


  "Thank you DCP South East Delhi. This is much, much needed! Your swift action and stand on the same is truly appreciated," the ‘Sadak’ actress wrote in another tweet.  



The Delhi Police arrested the two persons, including a minor, under various sections of the IPC, Prevention of Animals Cruelty Act and Epidemic Act.  


Gaurav Gupta, who is the animal welfare officer of ‘People for Animals’ NGO, filed a complaint after a video of two men mercilessly beating a stray dog went viral on social media.

Earlier this month, John Abraham expressed his anger over the killing of a street dog in Patiala. He shared a post on Twitter to slam a man, who was accused of killing a dog with his rifle.  


On the professional front, John will be next seen in ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’. The action drama was slated to hit the silver screens on May 13; however, the makers postponed the release due to the COVID-19 crisis.
