New Delhi: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is gearing up for the release of her much-awaited film ‘Chhapaak’, reached the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi to extend her support to the students. The ‘Padmaavat’ actress expressed her solidarity with the students, who were beaten in the violence two days ago.

DP was spotted in a protest which took place at the Sabarmati T point of Jawaharlal Nehru University. She didn't address the gathering. Check out the pictures and video!




Deepika's 'Chhapaak' co-star Vikrant Massey shared pictures on Twitter. He mentioned that his heart swelled with pride.


After the attack on JNU, several Bollywood celebs including Taapsee Pannu, Zoya Akhtar, Vishal Bhardwaj, Dia Mirza joined a protest in Mumbai on Monday against the violence on the university campus. The likes of Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Rajkummar Rao have condemned the attack on the students on social media.

"What happened in #JNU is shameful, horrific and heartbreaking. Those who are responsible behind these attacks should be punished. #JNUViolence," Rao tweeted.


Several students and teachers were attacked by a mob at the Jawaharlal Nehru University. The masked attackers thrashed the students and teachers inside the campus with wooden and metal rods. According to reports, at least 20 students were admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) including the JNU Students Union President Aishe Ghosh.

Talking about Deepika Padukone, the actress is playing the role of Malti in Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’. The film is based on the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. ‘Chhapaak’will hit the silver screens on January 10, 2020.
