New Delhi: As expected, Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' is all set to shatter box office records on its opening day. As per the early estimates, the film is expected to surpass the opening-day figure of Rs 57 crore of 'Pathaan' and touch Rs 73 crore.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film is expected to earn Rs 65 crore from the Hindi market, and 4 crore each from the Tamil and Telugu markets bringing the net total to Rs 73 crore while the gross collection of the film is expected to be 84.50 crore across all languages.
The morning shows for the Hindi version registered 46% occupancy. Kolkata had a morning occupancy of 66%, while Hyderabad had 62% occupancy.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, by 12 noon the film had collected Rs 19.35 crore across three national multiplex chains PVR, INOX and Cinepolis.
The advance bookings for the film were tremendous. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the figure for advance bookings adds up to Rs 55 crore for the weekend, slightly more than what 'Pathaan' made, namely, Rs 54 crore.
With ‘Pathaan’ and now ‘Jawan’, SRK holds the record of attracting two Rs 25 crore-plus advance bookings in one year. The three major multiplex chains in the country -- PVR, Inox and Cinepolis -- had reported they sold 2.35 million advance tickets within the first three days of the bookings being opened.
What is also expected to work for the film is the surge expected in Delhi-NCR because of the closure of schools, colleges and offices on account of the G-20 Summit. With the Metro services running normally in all but one station and no major traffic restrictions outside designated areas, people are expected to throng cinemas in larger numbers than usual between September 7 and September 11.
Jawan review
The film is getting rave reviews from moviegoers as well as critics and trade analysts with everyone calling it an out-and-out masala entertainer.
ABP Live review of the film reads: "'Jawan' is a film all about Shah Rukh Khan, his charisma, star power, and all that the hero can do and has been doing all these years.
This time, it only gets better and more modern. The Atlee film is a tribute to what a megastar like Shah Rukh Khan can do in the bat of an eyelid; make his audiences cry or welled up with pride and calls for justice.
Watch 'Jawan' for action you haven't seen before, SRK, Shah Rukh Khan, King Khan, the romance hero who has full-blown transformed himself into an action hero and only seems to be getting started."
The film also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sanjay Dutt among others. It also features Deepika Padukone in a guest appearance.
