New Delhi: Rajinikanth's film 'Jailer' has made about Rs 300 crore in India since its release, which is a phenomenal feat. Early estimates from Sacnilk.com show that the movie earned Rs 3.65 crore in India on its second Wednesday across all languages. The movie has earned Rs 295.65 crore at the domestic box office in just 12 days.
'Jailer' was released on August 10—the day before Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2' starring Akshay Kumar. The film will shortly surpass the Rs 300 crore milestone, while 'Gadar 2' has already surpassed the Rs 400 crore mark. 'Jailer' premiered on a Thursday with Rs 48.35 crores, outperforming 'Gadar 2', which was released a day later to the opening of Rs 40 crores.
Manobala Vijayabalan, a film trade analyst, noted that the action film is edging closer to joining the Rs 600 club in terms of global box-office earnings. On the 12th day, it had taken in Rs 12.54 crore and earned Rs. 556.50 crore worldwide.
Manobala Vijayabalan took to Twitter and wrote, "Jailer WW Box Office: Film REFUSES to slow down. The race towards ₹600 club BEGINS."
Rajinikanth comes back in theatres with the Tamil movie 'Jailer' after a gap of two years. The actor plays a senior prison officer pursuing a brutal gang boss in the movie.
The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed film also features Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, and Vasanth Ravi. Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, and Shiva Rajkumar all made brief cameos in the movie. Before the movie's release, the internet became a hit with Tamannaah Bhatia's special dance number, 'Kaavaalaa'.
