New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Don', which is the remake of Amitabh Bachchan's film of the same name, recently completed 14 years of release. Director Farhan Akhtar shared a poster of SRK along with the caption, "Don ko yaad rakhne ki zaroorat nahin kyon ki Don ko bhool jaana namumkin hai. #14YearsOfDon." Farhan's tweet created a lot of buzz on social media as the fans demanded the makers of the action thriller to come up with 'Don 3' soon.

It was speculated the makers might announce 'Don 3' on Shah Rukh Khan's birthday on November 2 but it didn't happen. If a recent report in an entertainment portal is to be believed, Farhan Akhtar is not keen to don the hat of a director for the next one year. He is currently busy with his upcoming film 'Toofan' and won't be taking any directorial assignments for the time being, the report added.

"Direction is far from Farhan’s mind right now. He is much more into acting and music right now. If at all another Don film is made by Excel(Entertainment, that’s Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s company)  it would now have to be directed by someone other than Farhan which  is easier said than done….or should I say, Don?," a source close to Farhan told SpotboyE.

Priyanka Chopra, who played the leading lady, is no more part of the 'Don' franchise. In case, Farhan Akhtar also decides to back out, 'Don 3' won't be the same as the first two parts. It remains to be seen if another director will step into Akhtar's shoes or the 'Rock On' actor will change his mind.

Interestingly, Farhan has not directed any film since 'Don 2', which released in 2011. The 46-year-old has focused more on acting in films in the last few years. His last release 'The Sky Is Pink' co-starring Priyanka Chopra received rave reviews from the critics but couldn't set the box office on fire.

Talking about 'Don',  the film revolved around the look-alike of the titular character, who is sent on a mission to impersonate the Don after he gets injured, and to stop the evil plans of the drug mafia.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Zero', which released in 2018. He is expected to team up with Siddharth Anand for his upcoming film 'Pathan'. The movie reportedly stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
