New Delhi: Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, known for his nuanced performances in films, left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday (April 29). He was 54. The ‘Piku’ star, who diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018, passed away at Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai, leaving the whole world in deep shock. He is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons Babil and Ayan.

Several tinsel town celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone mourned the actor’s death on social media.

International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik paid a heartfelt tribute to the ‘Hindi Medium’ actor by making his sand sculpture. He tweeted, “Heartfelt tribute to the Bollywood legend #IrrfanKhan on his untimely demise. My SandArt at Puri beach with message... not taking a moment to say goodbye #RIP.”

The 'Paan Singh Tomar' actor was laid to rest at Versova burial ground in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. Kapil Sharma, Mika Singh and Vishal Bharadwaj attended the funeral to pay their last respect.

"Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he's in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss," an official statement from actor's spokesperson read.
