By hoisting the Indian National Flag as a part of celebration of 70th year of India's Independence, Aishwarya becomes the first female actor ever to do so at the IFFM which is Australia’s annual celebration of film from India and the subcontinent.
Aishwarya also delivered a speech and the daughter kept standing beside her podium all this while. Aishwarya thanked Melbourne fans for their love and warmth and asked everyone to join her saying "Jai Hind" too. The doting mother constantly attended to her daughter standing near patting on her head.

Speaking at the event, Aishwarya Rai said, "Thank you so much Melbourne, thank you everyone for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love and warmth. Celebrating our 70th Independence Day will forever be such a beautiful memory for me and my dearest Aaradhya."
