New Delhi: 'RRR' is riding high on appreciation and recognition from all quarters of the film fraternity from across the world. Currently nominated for the Best Original Song category ( for Naatu Naatu) for the Oscars, 'RRR' has already won the same title at the Golden Globes. SS Rajamouli's directorial starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR has also won many critics association awards, felicitation at the Saturn Awards and so much more. Now, the film has won top honours at the Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards, including Best Foreign Film, Best Original Song and Best Stunts.
On Saturday, the Hollywood Critics Association Awards were announced and 'RRR' seemed to have won big. The official Twitter handle of the Hollywood Critics Association announced the news on social media with the video of SS Rajamouli receiving the award. They shared the post with the caption ,"And the HCA Award for Best International Film goes to…๐ RRR #RRR #RRRMovie #RamCharan #SSRajamouli #NTRamaRaoJr #HCAFilmAwards #BestInternationalFilm."
On receiving the Best Film award, SS Rajamouli said among cheers and hoots, "I think I need to go backstage and check...I think I'll be starting growing wings already...with the second one! Thank you so much it means a lot! I can't express in words how much it means..."
SS also added, "This is the 'Best Action Film' (award), we won the 'Best Stunts' (award), but probably the 'Best Stunt' (award) was for the best stunt choreographer...and...I really would have loved to have the stunt choreographers here to see this because I think that is the team that works so hard and puts their life on the line to entertain us. I think I'll take this opportunity to ask all the major awards to make a special category for the stunt guys....stunt choreographers, they really, really deserve that! This is for all the stunt choreographers, not only in my country but across the world who really work hard to entertain us all."
'RRR' movie's official Twitter handle also announced the news on their official social media handle.
Actor Ram Charan who portrayed the role of Alluri Sitarama Raju was also present at the Awards ceremony. He was also called up by his director on-stage where Ram said, "Thank you all so much for giving us all this love. It is a great responsibility. We are going to come back with better films and entertain you all."
Team 'RRR' is currently in Los Angeles and will be attending the Oscars on March 12.
In January, 'Naatu Naatu' won the Golden Globes in the 'Best Original Song' category. 5 days later, 'RRR' bagged two more awards at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards.
'RRR' is a fictional recreation of the lives of two revolutionary Indian leaders, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who risked their lives to free their country from colonial British rule. This period-action drama also starred Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Shriya Saran.
