Mumbai: 'What will the society think?'- We Indians give a lot of importance to what others think and perceive about us. But there are few celebs, who thought otherwise and inspired others by breaking stereotypes and prejudices. It's not easy to raise a child alone and play the dual role of a father and a mother. On the occasion of Father's Day 2021, we thought of telling you about single dads in tinsel town, who have successfully managed to inspire other fathers, even when they didn't have their respective partners with them.

Karan Johar

Love or hate but you can't debate that Karan Johar has set an example for single fathers in India. The filmmaker often faces trolling and massive criticism on social media platforms for different reasons but he is a proud Papa to Yash and Roohi Johar. The 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' director, who welcomed his twins via surrogacy in 2017, shares photos of his little munchkins on Instagram.

Just like his larger-than-life films, KJo has broken all the misconceptions about being a single father. He has credited his mother Hiroo Johar for providing motherly love to his two children. Together, they make a rock solid team.

Rahul Bose

Who said you need to get married to be a father? Rahul Bose has set a perfect example by adopting six children from Andaman and Nicobar Island. At a time when many celebs are opting for surrogacy to have babies, the actor chose to opt for adoption. He not only sponsors their education but also mentors them like a guide. 'Action speaks louder than words' and Rahul Bose has justified the same.

Tusshar Kapoor

The Kapoor siblings- Ekta and Tusshar have welcomed their babies via surrogacy. Tusshar was one of the first few single dads in the industry, who decided to raise a child all by himself. It’s not important that you have to be a husband to be a father. and mind you, he is doing an amazing job when it comes to parenting.

Chandrachur Singh

Remember Kripal Singh ‘Pali’ from the film Machis? Well, we are talking about Chandrachur Singh, who created waves his performance in the Gulzar directorial. He made a powerful comeback with Sushmita Sen starrer ’Aarya’ in 2020. Fans knew little about his wife and son as the actor has always guarded his personal life.

Did you know Chandrachur Singh is a proud single-father to his son? He was missing from the Bollywood scene since a long time as he was taking care of his son. The actor, while talking to a leading daily, confirmed that he is a single dad, who decided to put his career on the backburner to raise his son Shaarnjai.

Rahul Dev

Rahul Dev might be known for playing villainous roles in films but he has a heart of gold. We saw his calm and composed nature during Salman Khan's 'Bigg Boss 10'. Very few know that Rahul single-handedly raised his son Sidharth after his wife passed away due to cancer. He decided to participate in a show like ‘Bigg Boss’, which is known for its drama-packed episodes, to fund his child’s education.

It's not a cakewalk to parent a child. For years, we have been listening how only a mother can take care of the emotional needs of children. Well, time has changed. The old notions need to be put to rest and we must welcome positive changes in the society.

Fathers can be as nurturing as the mothers. After all, love and care have no gender.

Happy Father’s Day!
