Director Anurag Kashyap announced on Tuesday that the two-part contemporary blockbuster Gangs of Wasseypur will return in theatres on August 30. At the time of its release, 'Gangs of Wasseypur' received favourable reception with critical and commercial success, garnering mostly positive reviews.
Gangs of Wasseypur re-release
In 2012, Manoj Bajpayee played the main lead in the revenge story that also featured stars like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
On his official Instagram page, Kashyap announced the news. "In three days the Gang will be back... GOW back in cinemas," he wrote.
'Gangs of Wasseypur' will be showing at theatre screens from August 30 to September 5, based on a poster that the director released. Tickets can be purchased on Miraj Cinemas' official website.
On Tuesday, Varun reposted the news of the re-release on his X handle. “GOW-2 didn’t get a run at theatres the first time (just 5 days), as next Wednesday EK THA TIGER released. Hopefully people see it this on a big screen this time,” he wrote.
About Gangs of Wasseypur
The film series, which is set in the small Jharkhand town of Wasseypur, is about three generations of a coal mafia family involved in murder, extortion, and other crimes.
Co-written by Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri, Gangs of Wasseypur's first part premiered on June 22, 2012, and its second installment released on August 8, 2012. Nawazuddin was the main character in the second part. Piyush Mishra and Sneha Khanwalkar composed the soundtrack, while Mishra and Varun Grover wrote the lyrics.
