New Delhi: 'Gadar 2' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel and 'OMG 2' with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi as leads are all set to clash at the box office from August 11. Both movies are sequels to hugely popular films and have their fan base, thus evincing high interest amongst cine lovers. In the advance booking, 'Gadar 2' is way ahead of the Akshay Kumar starrer and has sold 83000 tickets for its opening day.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to update about the advance booking of the film. He wrote, “#Gadar2 advance booking status at *national chains*… Note: DAY 1 biz… #PVR: 36,000 #INOX: 28,000 #Cinepolis: 19,300 Total: 83,300 tickets sold Advance bookings are sure to multiply once the programming issue gets sorted. Advance ticket sales are fantastic in mass circuits and single screen properties.”

'Gadar 2' is expected to have the highest opening of 2023 at the box office after ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Pathaan.’ The Sunny Deol starrer is a typical massy film and the advance booking in single screens is very good.

On the other hand, 'OMG 2' is lagging behind and has sold 26,000 tickets for its opening day, according to Sacnilk.com.

Directed by Anil Sharma, ‘Gadar 2’ is a sequel to the 2001 mega hit ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. The film is the second most-watched Hindi film in India since the 1990s. It went on to emerge as the highest-grossing Hindi film since 1994 film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!’

The sequel also stars Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in the lead roles and is set in 1971. In the sequel, Tara Singh returns to Lahore, Pakistan in the midst of an anti-India “Crush India” campaign, to bring back his son Charanjeet.

Akshay’s ‘OMG 2’ is a sequel to the 2012 film ‘OMG - Oh My God!’ and also stars Yami Gautam and Arun Govil.
