New Delhi: Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel took everyone back to the year 2000 with the release of the first track from their film ‘Gadar 2’. The song is the reprised version of the iconic song ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ from ‘Gadar’.
The song, like the movie, was a hit back then and the reprised version has evoked nostalgia among many. The song features Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in a house where Sunny takes out his stringed instrument and starts singing the song. There are also glimpses of their romantic scenes from the first film. They can also be seen romancing in the house's courtyard with picturesque snowcapped mountains in the backdrop.
The original song was sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, while the new version of the song is recreated and rearranged by Mithoon. Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava was originally composed by Uttam Singh, and the lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi.
Helmed by Director-Producer Anil Sharma and produced by Zee Studios, the movie stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, continuing their character from the first film as Tara and Sakina.
Speaking about the film, Sunny Deol said, “Gadar 2 carries forward the legacy of its iconic first part. It’s a blessing to be able to bring back one of India’s most loved family films. At its heart, the film will always be an inspiring epic story of love, courage and patriotism. Hope the world welcomes Tara and Sakina again with open arms.”
In 2000 the film was released with Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and was a blockbuster. While both the films did magic at the box office, Gadar was a step ahead of the Aamir Khan starrer in terms of box office numbers.
Gadar 2, which is releasing on August 11, will face competition from Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal, and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2.
