New Delhi: Sunny Deol has returned to the big screen with another action-packed picture, proving that he can still create blockbusters even at the age of 65. ‘Gadar 2’, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel witnessed a big opening day. The film's premiere on August 11 was met with a very positive reception from audiences. It seemed that Anil Sharma's movie would earn more in its first weekend than the original ‘Gadar’ did in its entire run. Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that on its opening day, the sequel to his 2001 hit film Gadar, Gadar 2, grossed Rs 40 crore.
On opening day, 'Gadar 2’ took in over 60% of its potential revenue at the box office, with an incredible 86% of its revenue coming from evening showings.
Even though Sunny Deol’s movie had to compete with Akshay Kumar's ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Gadar 2’ ended up being 2023's second biggest opening weekend grosser, behind only Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Pathan.’
In terms of opening day attendance, ‘Gadar 2’ performed better than Prabhas's big-budget mythological epic ‘Adipurush’, which only made Rs 32 crore in its opening weekend.
This strong beginning not only predicts a good weekend at the box office but also hints at a possible strong box office performance in the future days.
Salman Khan also congratulated the entire team of 'Gadar 2' for the grand opening.
'Gadar 2’, is a story around the turbulent Crush India Movement of 1971. The first film (Gadar: Ek Prem Katha), released twenty-two years ago, established a new standard. Critics agree that the sequel, which also stars Utkarsh Sharma and Ameesha Patel in notable roles, will take audiences on an unforgettable ride.
Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary, and Rakesh Bedi are just a few of the prominent actors in the cast besides Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel.
