About Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
"Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" is a 2000 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic thriller film written, directed, and produced by Rakesh Roshan. It marked the debut of his son Hrithik Roshan and actress Ameesha Patel. Released on January 14, 2000, the film, along with Hrithik's performance and its soundtrack, became an instant blockbuster. It grossed over ₹800 million (US$17.8 million) worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film globally and the highest in India for that year.
The film received positive reviews, especially for Hrithik's acting, dancing, physique, and looks, though its storyline was deemed clichéd by many critics. Hrithik's debut was dubbed "Hrithik Mania" by the media, earning him the title "Millennial Superstar."
"Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" set a Guinness World Record in 2002 for winning the most awards for a feature film, with a total of 92. It was also listed in the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for the same achievement. Rakesh Roshan won his first Filmfare Award as a director and producer, and Hrithik Roshan made history by winning both the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and Best Debut for this film. The core concept of the movie was inspired by the 1986 Kannada film "Ratha Sapthami" and the 1996 Tamil film "Love Birds."
