The crime drama 'Drishyam 2', starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, is rapidly rising in the box office charts. The movie appears to be doing well owing to the favorable reviews and audience word-of-mouth. The 2015 movie 'Drishyam's sequel has even managed to outperform this week's release, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon's 'Bhediya'.
'Drishyam 2' is experiencing a fantastic run at the box office after hitting the Rs 100 crore club barely one week after its release. The movie is quickly approaching the next milestone, the Rs. 150 crore mark. The Ajay Devgn-starring movie surpassed its previous earnings on Saturday and made a whopping Rs 14.95 crore. It has made Rs 126.58 crore so far, outperforming the franchise's first installment, which made Rs 110.40 crore over the course of its entire run.
Taran Adarsh, a film trade analyst, tweeted about the movie's box office results and wrote,"#Drishyam2 continues its PHENOMENAL RUN… Goes on an OVERDRIVE on [second] Sat… Poses tough competition to all films - new as well as holdover titles… Will pack a SOLID PUNCH on [second] Sun as well… [Week 2] Fri 7.87 cr, Sat 14.05 cr. Meanwhile, 'Bhediya', which was directed by Amar Kaushik of 'Stree' fame, saw solid growth on Saturday following a modest beginning. The horror comedy has earned Rs 17.05 crore so far in its first two days.
"#Bhediya gathers speed on Day 2… Slowly and steadily, the film is finding its share of audience… National chains witness an upward trend, while mass pockets improve… Day 3 crucial, needs to show big gains… Fri 7.48 cr, Sat 9.57 cr. Total: ₹ 17.05 cr. #India biz," Taran Adarsh wrote in his tweet.
In the horror-comedy 'Bhediya', Varun Dhawan plays Bhaskar, a man who was bitten by a mythical wolf and now changes into a werewolf on every full moon night. The film's ensemble cast also involves actors like Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee, and Paalin Kabak.
After 'Stree' (2018) and 'Roohi' (2020), 'Bhediya' is the third installment in Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe (2020).
