New Delhi: Ayushmann Khurrana plays the protagonist in 'Dream Girl 2', which premiered this week to positive reviews. On day two after its opening weekend, the comedy film's domestic box-office earnings soared. The film brought in Rs 14 crore on Saturday, according to Sacnilk.com.

On Friday, 'Dream Girl 2' hauled in Rs 10.69 crore, according to Sacnilk.com. The movie earned Rs 24.69 crore during the course of two days at the box office.

Ayushmann Khurrana recently shared his happiness over the positive start his most recent release has had at the domestic box office. In a press note, the makers said the film has turned out to be Khurrana's "biggest opener till date", surpassing the opening day figure of his 2019 movie "Bala" that had earned Rs 10.15 crore.

"It feels amazing to deliver my career’s best opening with 'Dream Girl 2'. 'Dream Girl' is a franchise that has given me a lot of love and I’m really happy with the start that 'Dream Girl 2' has got at the box office," Khurrana said in a statement.

The film review on ABP Live reads: The actor, who challenged the prevailing narratives of Bollywood films with his social message dramedies and entered the scene more like a storm than a breath of fresh air, has been riding the vehicle long enough to have drained up all the fuel by this point. Therefore, the faux 'wokeness' of his screenplays (even with an extensive disclaimer like the one Dream Girl 2 has) is not enough to make one sit through some juvenile quips, crash humour, and under-the-belt puns.

'Dream Girl 2' is a sequel to Ayushmann's hugely successful 2019 film of the same name and is directed by Raaj Shaandilya. The actor takes on the role of Karam again, who decides to pose as Pooja in order to earn enough money to get married to Ananya Panday. Along with them, Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Abhishek Banerjee, Manjot Singh, and Seema Pahwa appear in the film.
