Mumbai: Faisal Farooqui, who managed the Twitter handle of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, announced on Wednesday (September 15) that he is closing the account after taking consent from Saira Banu. He shared a picture of the late actor along with a note to reveal that Dilip Kumar’s Twitter handle will be closed.

“After much discussion and deliberation and with the consent of Saira Banu ji, I hv decided to close this twitter account of beloved Dilip Kumar Saab. Thank you for your continuous love and support. -Faisal Farooqui,” a tweet on Dilip’s Twitter handle read. 


Faisal, who posted tweets on behalf of Dilip and Saira, thanked the fans for their love and support. Farooqui and Saira used the Twitter handle to share updates about the 'Devdas' actor's health in the past. The account, created in November 2011, has over 619k followers. 



Dilip Kumar's fans responded to the tweet, requesting Faisal to not close his Twitter handle. One user tweeted, "It's not necessary to close it. You may rename it to 'Dilip Kumar Memorial' and then use the account to post clips from his movies or his interviews and stuff like these."



Last month, Saira Banu was admitted to Hinduja Hospital after she complained of issues related to blood pressure. She was shifted to the ICU ward on September 1, 2021. 



The 'Purab Aur Pashcim' actress was discharged from the hospital on September 5. Farooqui had shared an update on her health on Twitter. "Saira Banu ji is back home. Discharged from the hospital. Doing well. Resting. Your love and prayers are truly appreciated," he wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Dilip Kumar, known for his acting prowess, passed away after a prolonged illness at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. He was 98. Several Bollywood celebs including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan mourned his demise on social media. Dilip Kumar was buried with state funeral protocols.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and other politicians also expressed their grief over the demise of the legendary actor.
