‘Dil Bechara’ is one of the most anticipated movies this year. This film was supposed to be released theatrically on May 8 but couldn’t see the light of the day adhering to the COVID-19 lockdown. This soulful love story of ‘Kizie and Manny’ not only marks Sushant Singh Rajput’s last movie but is also one of his best performances till date. Based on John Green’s bestseller novel ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, this romantic flick teaches us to enjoy life’s imperfections irrespective of the situation.

The directorial debut of Mukesh Chhabra revolves around two characters Kizie and Manny, where both of them have been fighting the deadly disease ‘cancer’. Sanjana’s character ‘Kizie’ suffers from thyroid cancer and Sushant’s character ‘Immanuel Rajkumar Junior’ aka ‘Manny’ had osteosarcoma. The movie shows the journey that Kizie and Manny enfolded by embracing each other’s imperfections and showing us the true meaning of ‘Love’.

Sushant’s character in the story reveals that you do not need a long life to enjoy it, rather you need to be fully alive to the moments passing by. Manny’s character will leave a smile on your face and also tear your heart up the moment reality punches on your face. His character manifests to welcome life with open arms. Manny has been portrayed as a full of life character clasping to life as it keeps on surprising with its ups and downs. The dialogue where Manny says ‘I wanted to attend my own funeral’, shows the positivity of the character.

A fan of Rajinikanth, Manny’s character is a treat to watch which will make you laugh and at times, tear you up into pieces with the sheer innocence in his eyes. The unexplainable pain the heart that overpours when you realise that this is the last time one can watch Sushant leaves you in a battle between your mind and your heart. Rajput, as always, beautifully illustrated the character and at times make you forget that he left us forever.

‘An artist never dies’ is what they say. The late actor with his last on-screen appearance made it true. One just cannot forget the character full of life, the smile, the inquisitiveness in his eyes throughout.

You will be missed forever Sushant but will be alive within us with the remarkable work that you left for us to celebrate you. With tears in our eyes, we bid adieu to the actor par excellence.
