'Dhadak' Box Office Collection Day 1: Janhvi -Ishaan starrer off to a flying start, BEATS 'Student of the Year'

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter starrer ‘Dhadak’, which is the official Hindi remake of Marathu film ‘Sairat, has started on a high note at the box office. The romantic drama directed by Shashank Khaitan has managed to impress the audience despite getting mixed reviews from critics. Trade pundits were expecting the film to do well on the first day and ‘Dhadak’ didn’t disappoint them. The film, which mark the Bollywood debut of late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi, has minted Rs 8.71 crore on the very first day. Usually, a movie starring newcomers starts on a slow note and then picks up pace. However, ‘Dhadak’ surpassed all the expectations and minted big moolah on the very first day. Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra starrer ‘Student of the Year’ had collected Rs 8 crore on the opening day and now ‘Dhadak’ has beaten the record. Trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared Dhadak’s first day box office collection on Twitter. Karan Johar, who has produced the film, took to twitter to thanks the audience for their love. ‘’Glad to have our own record broken previously held by SOTY!! Thank you to all the beating hearts for giving this beating heart so much love!!!,’’ KJo’s wrote on the micro-blogging site. ‘Dhadak’, which hit the silver screens on July 20, was highly anticipated by the movie buffs. The film became the talk of the town ever since its trailer was unveiled by the makers. Our Bollywood celebrities have also showered praises on the film and the two lead actors. Ashutosh Rana, who played the role of strong politician, has also been appreciated for his performance. Watch this space for more updates!
