New Delhi: Netflix has unveiled the trailer of ‘Delhi Crime’ which is based in the horrific Nirbhaya gang rape case and follows the investigation of the brutal case by the Delhi Police. Starring Shefali Shah as DCP Varthika Chaturvedi, the seven-part series has been written and directed by award winning Indo-Canadian filmmaker Richie Mehta. The trailer starts with Varthika receiving a call about the crime which took place in December 2012. Shefali’s character tries her best to nab the culprits and in one of the scenes, she says, “This crime is not just heinous, it is insanity.''
We also see Nirbhaya requesting the cops to not tell her father about the incident while she is being carried to the hospital. The heinous crime had shocked the country and people took to the streets to protest and demand justice for Nirbhaya.
‘’I don’t want to ever see a woman in this situation again,’’ Varthika can be seen saying in the end of the trailer. The two minute and 14 seconds video will definitely sent shiver chills down your spine.

The series co-starring Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Gopal Datt, Vinod Sherawat and Rajesh Tailang will stream on Netflix from March 22, 2019.
The police-procedural thriller premiered worldwide at the Sundance Film Festival in the Indie Episodic category in January earlier this year.
"The making of 'Delhi Crime' has been a personally transformative journey...Speaking to every individual involved, retracing the paths that the police took during the course of the investigation, and hearing of the determination that it took for the case to be closed, despite severe limitations," Richie Mehta had said statement.
"Delhi Crime' is an important story told with sensitivity and responsibility, and we are honoured to help bring this series to Indian and global members. It is honest and emotional and powerful," Simran Sethi, Director, International Originals, Netflix, had said in a statement.
