New Delhi: Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon's heist comedy ‘Crew’, directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, is off to a strong start. On its first day at the domestic box office, the movie brought in ₹6.3 crore, according to early estimates that Sacnilk.com reported.
Crew Day 1 Box Office Early Estimate Report
Although ₹6.3 crore is a decent first day total for a comedy starring three female actors, it is nothing compared to the previous successful female lead film, ‘Veere Di Wedding’, which was co-produced by Kareena Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor.
On its first day of release, the Shashanka Ghosh-directed 2018 movie, which starred Sonam Kapoor among others, made an astounding ₹10.7 crore.
It should be remembered, though, that ‘Veere Di Wedding’ came out a few years before the pandemic.
Given the overwhelmingly strong word-of-mouth, the absence of competition from new Bollywood movies, plus the fact that it is a holiday, ‘Crew’ may see a bump in collection on Saturday, day 2.
About Crew
The comedy-crime tale ‘Crew’, which centres on three women played by Kareena, Tabu and Kriti, is positioned against the backdrop of the aviation industry's dire circumstances. But their fates put them in some unwanted situations and entangle them in a web of deceit.
Crew Review
As per our in-house review, “This heist-comedy, featuring three women dealing with the everyday challenges of middle-class life, feels like a breath of fresh air among recent Bollywood films. While some parts of the industry are busy with out-of-school-textbook historical dramas or pushing certain agendas, this film keeps things light and fun. What makes it stand out is that it doesn't try to force any feminist message or paint its female characters as victims. Instead, it just lets them be themselves, navigating life's obstacles with humor and wit.”
