The ‘PadMan’ actor, who donated Rs 2 crore to the Mumbai Police foundation to support the fight against Coronavirus, also requested his fans to contribute their bit.
“I salute @MumbaiPolice headconstables Chandrakant Pendurkar & Sandip Surve, who laid their lives fighting Corona. I have done my duty, I hope you will too. Let’s not forget we are safe and alive because of them,” Kumar wrote on the micro-blogging site.
Earlier in the day, the Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Param Bir Singh, thanked Akshay for his contribution to the foundation of Mumbai Police.
He tweeted, "Mumbai Police thanks @akshaykumar for contributing Rs. 2 Crore to the Mumbai Police Foundation. Your contribution will go a long way in safeguarding the lives of those who are committed to safeguarding the city - the men and women of Mumbai Police! #MumbaiPoliceFoundation."
The 'Housefull 4' actor had earlier extended financial aid of Rs. 3 crore to BMC to assist the making of personal protection equipment, masks, and rapid testing kits.
Akshay had also donated Rs. 25 crore to the PM-CARES Fund to help the government in combating the spread of COVID-19.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar will be next seen in ‘Sooryavanshi’. The Rohit Shetty directorial was slated to hit the silver screens last month. The makers of the much-awaited film had to postpone its release due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The cop drama also stars Katrina Kaif.
